DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1800Z October 5, 2011
Manitoba/North Dakota: Strong southerly winds are pushing remnant smoke from North Dakota into southern Manitoba. It is likely this smoke is from the numerous agricultural burns in the northern Central Plains. Georgia/Florida: Smoke continues to be produced from a wildfire near the Okefenokee Swamp. The smoke moved into northern Florida this morning. Myrga THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
