DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1730Z October 7, 2011
Ontario/Quebec: Remnant smoke, from the brushfires in southern Manitoba, moved eastward into portions of eastern Ontario and western Quebec. Smoke also extended as far north as James Bay on satellite imagery this morning. It is likely that a majority of this smoke is originating from the Long Lake fire near Nopiming Provincial Park and the fire burning near Fisher Branch, Manitoba. The remnant smoke is moving around an area of high pressure to the south. Georgia/Florida: Smoke continues to originate from a fire near the Okefenokee Swamp and move southward into Florida.
