DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1830Z October 10, 2011
Residual thin density smoke is seen on visible satellite imagery this morning over the Great Lakes and the adjacent states/provinces including Wisconsin, northern Michigan, and southern and central Ontario. The detached smoke is present ahead of an advancing cold front and has likely originated from fires in the agricultural areas of the lower Mississippi Valley and the agricultural fires in south central Canada/northern US. Ramirez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
