THROUGH 0245Z October 20, 2011
Central/Southern California: An area of light, remnant smoke can be seen moving slowly southward through portions of the central/southern Valley in California this evening. This is likely from the numerous fires that were seen yesterday evening just to the north across northern California and the Pacific NW. Southern Idaho: An elongated band of light, remnant smoke is shown moving eastward through southwestern Idaho in this evening's satellite imagery. This smoke is most likely due to the many smoke producing fires across Oregon and Washington yesterday. Texas Gulf Coast: A wildfire in Refugio County on the southeast Texas coast was emitting light to moderate density smoke in the south-southeast direction. This smoke plume is observed to be reaching approximately 250km offshore over the Gulf of Mexico.
