DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Currently: Southeast Texas/Southern Louisiana: The large fire burning in Jefferson county continues to produce light to moderately dense smoke moving south across the western Gulf of Mexico. The smoke stretches over 500 km from the source. Numerous smaller fires in southern Louisiana are producing mostly light smoke moving south into the Gulf of Mexico Earlier Today: A large fire burning along coastal Jefferson county in eastern Texas from last evening was producing a long, narrow plume of light to moderately dense smoke that was moving to the south southwest over the western Gulf of Mexico reaching to a point approximately 125 km east of Brownsville Texas. J Kibler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
