DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

No significant areas of detached smoke were detected in satellite imagery this afternoon and evening. There were two area of blowing dust observed around the northern Gulf of California. Both were associated with a winter storm developing along the New Mexico/Mexico border. One area was originating over the deserts of far southeast California and the lower Colorado River basin with light to moderately dense blowing dust then extending south in the northern Gulf of California. A second area of moderately dense blowing dust developed late in the afternoon over west central Sonora and was moving to the east. Ruminski THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
