DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2345Z February 7, 2012
There were no areas of detached smoke or blowing dust observed in satellite imagery this afternoon and evening. As in previous days, numerous fires with thin smoke plumes were observed over central New Jersey with the plumes extending east into the Atlantic. Numerous fires with mainly small, thin smoke plumes were also detected over northern Florida, southern Georgia, southern Alabama and southern Mississippi. The most significant plumes were observed over the Florida Panhandle and southeast Mississippi. Ruminski THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
