DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z March 25, 2012
Nevada: Several areas of blowing dust originated in Nevada this evening. Around 1745Z, one area of blowing dust began in Esmeralda County and moved northward into Churchill County by sunset. Another area of blowing dust originated along the Esmeralda County, NV and Inyo County, CA border. It is also likely some remnant smoke from a fire in Lyon County, NV mixed with the blowing dust. California: An area of blowing dust originated north of Bakersfield in Kern County this evening. This area of dust moved north and approached Tulare County by sunset. Gulf of Mexico: A large area of aerosol and light smoke continued to persist over the central and western Gulf of Mexico along a stationary front this evening. The smoke is likely remnant from fires over Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula.
