Kansas/Nebraska/Missouri: Agricultural fires, especially in and around the Kansas Flint Hills, produced northward moving smoke throughout the afternoon and evening hours. Widespread areas of remnant smoke can be found in northeastern Kansas and southeastern Nebraska. Gulf of Mexico: Remnant smoke contained along a frontal boundary moved further south in the Gulf of Mexico today. By sunset, the aerosol was located near the US/Mexico border. Fires from Mexico along with flaring in the Bay of Campeche are the likely source of the smoke.
