DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Central US: An area of light density remnant smoke was visible across a large portion of northern and central Missouri extending into west central Illinois. This smoke is believed to be left over from yesterday's fires over the Central and South Central US. During the day, additional smoke producing fires were analyzed again especially over eastern Kansas, eastern Oklahoma, and western Arkansas. The smoke from these fires moved primarily in a northerly direction. JS Earlier Today... Atlantic Coast: An area of thin density smoke, most likely from the numerous agricultural fires burning this past week, is present on satellite imagery this morning off the Eastern Seaboard. The area of smoke extends from Wilmington, NC southward to Melbourne, FL. Myrga THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE...TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
