Gulf of Mexico/Southeast US: Several areas of remnant smoke were present across the Gulf of Mexico, along the east and west coasts of Florida, and across the waters off the Southeast US. Some of the smoke near Florida was thin to moderately dense. Nearly all of this smoke is believed to be from the large wildfire along the Baker/Columbia county border in northern Florida. Mid-Atlantic: Strong winds and dry conditions have led to numerous fires developing across the Mid-Atlantic today, many of which are producing smoke plumes that are moving east. In addition, a large amount of aerosol believed to be composed primarily of elevated dust can be seen off the coast of the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast US along and behind a strong cold front. Sheffler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS.
