DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0130Z April 13, 2012
Mid-Atlantic/Southeast US: Several small, smoke producing agricultural burns throughout Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas are creating several remnant but localized light density smoke plumes. Very near to the sources, moderately dense smoke is observed. Florida/Gulf of Mexico: The County Line fire in Columbia County, FL continues to generate very heavy smoke. Contrary to yesterday, today's smoke is moving to the southwest over north central Florida and out over the Gulf of Mexico. Moderate remnant smoke extends as far south as Naples with the westernmost extent not quite reaching past the Florida panhandle. Thin density smoke stretches laterally as far west as the Gulf waters south of Louisiana and as far east as the northern Bahama Islands. Ramirez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS.
