DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Mid-Atlantic: An area of light to moderate aerosols can be seen off the North Carolina coast. This is likely remnant smoke from fires that were present in the Carolinas last evening. Gulf of Mexico: Area of aerosols seen over much of the Gulf of Mexico, however the best signature is present over the western Gulf. This is an area of remnant smoke from numerous wildfires in southern Mexico that have been occurring for the past several days. Liddick THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
