DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Southeastern United States/Mid-West: Remnant smoke from the Whitewater-Baldy fire (NM) continues to circulate around an area of high pressure centered in North Carolina. A well-defined smoke edge was viewed this morning moving westward through Georgia ahead of Tropical Storm Beryl's track into the Jacksonville area. Remnant smoke is also moving north from Louisiana to portions of southern Iowa. New Mexico: The Whitewater-Baldy continues to burn in southwestern New Mexico. Throughout the overnight hours and this morning, the smoke associated with this fire moved northeastward into Kansas. Moderately dense smoke advanced as far north as central Nebraska and southern South Dakota. Myrga THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
