DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Northern Canada: Thin smoke from numerous wildfires across the wilderness of Alberta, Saskatchewan and the NW Territories can be seen moving SE across NW Manitoba and N Ontario. Central Gulf of Mexico: Thin to moderately dense smoke from agricultural fires across S Mexico and the Yucatan peninsula has been drawn northward into the central Gulf of Mexico as far north as 27.5N between 93W and Thunderstorms along 86W. Some thin smoke may be underneath the thunderstorm complex moving into W Florida... but cannot be seen at this time. PyroCBs: Large fires in N Alberta and North Central Quebec have overshooting tops indicative of PyroCbs... these dense smoke plumes can be seen as attached smoke areas on the graphic or GIS page. Gallina THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
