DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1000Z June 13, 2012
Blowing Dust in the United States: Nevada: Blowing dust/sand originated in Churchill County, NV around 13/0015Z in the vicinity of Carson Sink. This dust moved to the southeast. An additional area began in Washoe County north of Reno around 13/0045Z. Blowing dust from here moved to the east and entered Pershing County by sunset. -Myrga From Earlier: Gulf of Mexico: Light smoke can be seen covering the western and northern Gulf of Mexico reaching the panhandle of Florida. The smoke is likely remnant from various fires in Mexico and Central America. Central US: Light to moderately dense smoke is located of eastern Kansas and drifting east into Missouri. -Salemi THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
