Central North America: Light to moderately dense smoke remains situated across central North America. The smoke extends from southern Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario, south through the Central Plains/Mississippi Valley, into Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi where it enters the Gulf of Mexico and becomes obscured by clouds while being entrained into Tropical Depression Debby. There is a small off-shoot from this larger area of smoke. The off-shoot extends east through Tennessee, along the North Carolina/South Carolina border and consists of mainly moderately dense smoke. These areas likely consist of remnant smoke from the numerous large wildfire in the western US. Alaska/Canada: An area of remnant smoke from the numerous fires in the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Alaska stretches from northeastern Alaska through the Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and then southeast into northern Manitoba and Ontario. An area of fires in Alberta and Saskatchewan is responsible for an area of mostly light with some moderately dense remnant smoke over the northern portion those provinces. Remnant smoke remains off the coast of Newfoundland from fires that continue to burn in that province.
