California/Oregon: Localized heavy smoke surrounded the Mill, Robbers, and Flat fires this evening in California. Remnant smoke from these fires covered much of northern California, southern Oregon and extreme northwestern Nevada. Central Plains/Upper Midwest: Remnant light smoke from the numerous wildfires in Canada moved southward into the United States throughout the day. However, cloud cover in across the United States made smoke detection difficult. Canada: The pattern from the last few days continued this evening throughout Canada. Numerous wildfires in a swath of land from northern Alberta to extreme western Ontario generated a large amount of smoke throughout the day. The heaviest area of smoke was located across northern Alberta to northern Manitoba. Multiple swaths of heavy smoke also skirted the southern shores of Hudson Bay and moved eastward into northern Ontario. The southern edge of the smoke was unclear due to weather clouds in the area.
