DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

North-western US: An large area of remnant smoke is situated over the northwest US. Smoke extends from the west coast of northern California/Oregon/Washington eastward toward the central US, reaching as far as Nebraska, Kansas, and central Missouri. Smoke is moderate to thick in density and originates from numerous wildfires in northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, and Montana that continued to emit large amounts of smoke throughout the day. North Central US/Central Canada: A large area of light smoke extends through Manitoba, into Minnesota and Wisconsin before turning back northeast into Ontario. This smoke may be remnant smoke from Siberian fires. -LP/Salemi THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
