Northwest US/Southern Alberta and Saskatchewan/Northern and Central Plains: A large area of remnant smoke can be seen this morning and early afternoon stretching from northern California into southern British Columbia and central portions of Alberta and Saskatchewan and then into Montana and the northern and central US Plains. This thickest smoke can be seen from central Alberta southeastward into the central Plains. This smoke continues to be from the very large and numerous wildfires burning into the western states. Great Lakes: An area of light remnant smoke can be seen moving eastward through the western and central Great Lakes today. This is likely smoke from the western wildfires that broke off from the main plume and could also be mixed in with the remnant smoke from the fires burning through northern Alberta and southern Yukon/Northwest Territories.
