DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

South-central US: A small area of smoke is located over southern Louisiana. This may be a combination of remnant smoke from the fires in the northwestern US along with agricultural burns in the Mississippi Valley. Central US: Remnant smoke from wildfires in California, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming persists throughout the central US. The area of smoke extends from the Pacific through northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, southern Montana, Wyoming, northern Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas and Iowa. Pacific Northwest: The fires in northern California continue to emit moderately dense to dense smoke which is moving to the north. Canada: A detached area of smoke is situated over south-central British Columbia. This may be remnant smoke from fires in north BC but also may be smoke from the northwestern US. -Salemi THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
