Florida: A large area of light smoke is located over most of Florida and extends west into the Gulf of Mexico. This is likely remnant smoke from the numerous agricultural burns throughout the southeastern US. Midwest US: Two areas of aerosols are located over the Midwest US. The western area stretches from the Kansas/Missouri border north through Nebraska and into southern South Dakota. This may contain smoke transported from as far south as the Yucatan Peninsula but the exact origin and composition is unknown. The eastern expanse is detected in Minnesota and extends south through Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana where it becomes obscured by clouds. This area follows the path of jet stream indicating it may be long range transport aerosols, possible Siberian dust. -Salemi THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS.
