DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Gulf of Mexico: Light to moderately dense remnant smoke remained over the western Gulf of Mexico. Most of this smoke is from numerous agricultural fires that have been burning in Mexico and Central America over the past few days. Central US/Midwest/Great Lakes/Southeast Canada: An extensive area of dust and smoke remains over the Central and Midwestern US and through the Great Lakes region into Ontario. The dust was transported from Asia and has likely become mixed with light remnant smoke from fires over the Central and Midwestern US over the past few days. California: An unknown aerosol continues to southward along the coast of northern California. It's origin is unknown. Liddick THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
