DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Currently: Southern California: Wildfire burning on the border of Kern/Los Angeles/Ventura counties is producing a large area of moderately dense to dense smoke that stretches ESE across the counties of Orange, western Riverside, and San Bernardino. Smoke stretches roughly 105 nm from source. J Kibler Earlier Today: Great Lakes: A fire along near Hubbard, MN near the Hubbard/Wadena county line produced thin to moderate smoke that has tracked SE and is currently seen covering Central Lower Michigan and Lake Michigan to around Racine, WI to Bay City MI then NE across Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. Another line is embedded with this E-W line from the IN/OH boarder to Flint, MI... this area may be attributed to a fire further south in MN in northern Morrison county, likely on Camp Riley Mil. Res. Ozarks/Arkansas: An area of moderately dense smoke likely originating from Yucatan and Central American agricultural burns can be seen covering portions of extreme NE OK, extreme SE KS, S MO and nearly all of AR and along the Mississippi R. between Memphis to Vicksburg. This smoke likely covers more of OK, LA and N TX but dense weather cloud cover obscures the area. The proximity to a well defined but developing cyclone over the TX panhandle/W OK makes smoke movement particularly difficult except for the general ENE motion imposed by the movement of the cyclone ENE itself. Gallina THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
