DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Smoke: US: Light smoke covers the US a majority of the US including the central and southern plains, the entire Southeastern US (minus the Florida peninsula) and up through the Great Lakes region including the all of the Mid-Atlantic and southern New England. An area of medium dense smoke covers the center part of the country over Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and part of northern Texas. The majority of this smoke is from the large wildfires that continue to burn through southern Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and northern Mexico. Several agricultural fires that were burning last evening throughout the lower Mississippi Valley region and likely added to the large area of smoke in that region. Canada: An expansive area of light to medium dense smoke is covering a large portion of Canada this morning, extending from the Yukon and Northwest Territories south through British Columbia and Alberta. Another area of light to moderate smoke covers much of central Quebec and extends through Newfoundland and off the coast. This very large area of smoke continues to be from not only the large wildfires burning through eastern Canada but also through central and northwestern Canada as well as from Alaska. Alaska: An area of mostly light smoke continues to move towards the north through northern Alaska. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
