DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Alaska/Yukon Territory/Northwest Territory/northern/central British Columbia/Alberta: An area of light to moderately dense smoke stretches across parts of central/eastern mid Alaska into northern Yukon and most of Northwest Territories and south into British Columbia/Alberta. The area of moderately dense smoke extends across parts of northern Yukon and Northwest Territory. Smoke is from wildfires in far eastern Alaska. Northern/Central US and Canada: A large area of residual smoke from wildfires in Alaska/Manitoba/Territories stretches across most of central Canada and into the central US. An area of thick smoke stretches across southern Manitoba/Quebec and into the northern Great Lakes/Plains and is moving south. A larger area of moderate dense smoke extends across southeast Northwest Territory, southern Nunavut, into eastern Saskatchewan, most of Manitoba, southern Ontario and into the Northern Great Lake region. Another area of moderately dense smoke extends n/s across western Minnesota, Iowa, into northwest Missouri and into eastern Nebraska and Kansas. Wildfires in northern Quebec are producing lines of moderately dense to dense smoke moving east southeast. A small patch of moderately dense smoke in/between the clouds can be seen in northeast Quebec. Southwest US: A large area of light to moderately dense smoke extends across parts of southern California, Nevada, most of Utah and Arizona and western New Mexico. The moderately dense smoke is primarily located in northern/central Utah. Most smoke is from wildfires burning in Utah, Arizona and northern Mexico. J Kibler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
