DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Alaska/Yukon Territory/Northwest Territory/northern/central British Columbia/Alberta: An area of moderate to locally dense smoke stretches across parts of central and eastern Alaska into northern Yukon and most of Northwest Territories. The smoke originated from wildfires over Alaska, Yukon and Northwest Territories. Northern/Central US and Canada: A large area of moderate to very dense smoke stretches across most of central Canada and into the central US and Great Lakes. Another area of moderate to locally dense smoke also extended from the eastern Great Lakes and Ohio Valley northeast towards Quebec. The area of smoke over central Canada and the central United States originated from ongoing wildfires over northern Manitoba and also from Alaska, Yukon and Northwest Territories. The area of smoke further east over the eastern Great Lakes towards Quebec is from fires over Quebec. Southwest US: A large area of moderately dense smoke extends across parts of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and California. The source of this smoke was fires over the Southwest United States. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
