DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Central US/Southern Canada: Light smoke covers much of central US from Montana to the Great Lakes Region in the US and southern Canada and much of Ontario and south through the Central Plains and into the southern US from Texas to western Georgia. The smoke is remnant from the Rim fire in California as well as other smaller wild fires in the US Rockies. Two areas of moderate dense smoke were seen over Minnesota/Iowa/Nebraska/Kansas slowly moving south/southeast with the second area over Texas, southern Oklahoma, and western Louisiana/Arkansas along the cold front situated across the area. Liddick THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
