THROUGH 0300Z September 19, 2013
California: A large pocket of light density smoke is visible in central California moving eastward and then south. The smoke is visible as far west as San Jose and as south as Bakersfield, California. The smoke originates from the Rim wildfire that still continues to burn near Yosemite. Mississippi Valley: A small area of light density smoke is visible in the southeast portion of Missouri. Due to the large amount of agricultural burns taking place in Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Alabama, there should be more smoke covering the area that is currently obscured by cloud cover. There is also a hint that the smoke could be reaching as far north as southern Illinois.
