THROUGH 1745Z October 05, 2013
No areas of remnant smoke were observed in satellite imagery this morning and early afternoon. California/Northwest Mexico: A large area of blowing/elevated dust could be seen getting picked up from the deserts of southern California and northwest Mexico and drifting westward across the eastern Pacific. Strong Santa Ana winds and dry conditions were leading to the blowing dust event. Mid-Atlantic Coast: An area of unknown aerosol could be seen stretching east and slightly northeastward away from the Mid-Atlantic coastline. This aerosol was positioned just to the south of a slow moving frontal boundary that was hanging across eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey this morning.
