DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Dust/Sand: Nevada: A small area of thin dust/sand from the dry lake beds of Central Esmeralda county (near Silver City) is blowing south an covers a the South Central portions of the county attm. Very thin dust/sand from Yucca Lake (dry) in SE Nye county is moving south covering about 15km due south about the width of the lake (5-10km). California: An unknown aerosol likely resuspended soils and pollutants are moving S and SE covering all of W Kern, W Tulare, E half of Fresno county and extreme E Kings county across the SE Valley floor...banking up against the western slopes of the Southern Sierras (Greenhorn Range) increasing in density due to the convergence and in ability of the air to reach through the E-W valleys. Gallina THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
