DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2300Z January 22, 2014
Blowing dust/sand: Nevada: An area of blowing dust/sand in NE Pershing county is pushing NW into Washoe county beginning around 2100z and into the early evening hours. Southeast/Mississippi Valley: Numerous and most likely agricultural/prescribed burns are burning across the region with most producing light to moderately dense smoke. Most plumes are moving in a E/SE-ly direction. J Kibler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
