DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Gulf of Mexico: A light density plume of smoke is visible in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico moving northward the Florida panhandle. It is possible that the plume could be a mixture of smoke from the agricultural burns taking place in Cuba. Southern Plains: An expansive area of blowing dust could be seen moving south and southeast across the Texas Panhandle and northwest Texas to near Dryden and Del Rio by sunset, southwest to northeast Oklahoma, southeast Kansas, and far southwest Missouri. Another area of blowing dust is visible in Estancia, NM moving SE all the way to the Texas border. A separate plume of dust was also seen in southeast Colorado originating from near Pueblo and moving to the southeast. Very strong winds in the area are the cause for these large blowing dust events. Oegerle THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
