DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

BLOWING DUST Colorado: An area of light blowing dust was observed from around 20Z until sunset over southeast Colorado. The dust originated along the Arkansas river valley mainly between Pueblo and Lamar. The dust was moving to the southwest, not quite reaching the New Mexico border by sunset. OTHER AEROSOL Gulf of Mexico: A well defined plume of aerosol was seen over the southwest Gulf of Mexico. The plume originates from oil rigs in the Bay of Campeche and extends to the northwest to near 25N95W where clouds prevent further detection. Ruminski THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
