DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z April 6, 2014
Central Plains: An area of light to medium density smoke, emerging from the plethora of seasonal agricultural fires across Kansas and Oklahoma, was seen moving mainly northward this evening. The northward extent of the smoke is unknown due to clouds moving into the region, but the smoke was reaching into southeast Nebraska as of 2245Z. Western Gulf of Mexico/Western Caribbean: Smoke from seasonal agricultural burning in southern Mexico and Central America covers much of the western Gulf of Mexico this evening. The smoke could be seen extending towards the Texas coastline but further detection was inhibited along the coastline due to cloud cover. There was an additional small patch of light density remnant smoke lifting northwest from western Cuba, likely due to agricultural burns.
