DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Western Gulf and Northern Gulf Coast: Moderate to dense smoke from large areas of agricultural burning across the Yucatan and Northern Central America covers the entire western Gulf of Mexico west of 90W and is particularly dense from just off shore of northern Tamaulipas to near Corpus Christi TX. The leading edge of the smoke lines up very well with the sea breeze line across SE TX across S LA into S MS into FL panhandle. The smoke is generally moving N or NW except along the northern Gulf coast where it is moving due E being pulled a bit north by the sagging cold front that is progressing east across GA as well. Gallina THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
