DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1600Z June 01, 2014
Central/Southern Plains: Residual smoke most likely from the Black River Tank Fire can be see moving across parts of E New Mexico/Colorado, Texas and Oklahoma Panhandle and as far north as W Kansas and SW Nebraksa. Northeast Coast: An area of haze possibly aerosols can be seen off the New England/Mid Atlantic coast moving toward the E in the Atlantic. Alaska/Yukon Territory: The 100 Mile Creek Wildfire is producing a large area of light to moderately dense smoke. Smoke spreads WNW just south of Fairbanks and north of the Denali National Park and Preserve. Most of this smoke is light with some denser smoke just W of the wildfire. Smoke heading E is moderately dense moving E across the Tanana Valley State Forest and into central Yukon Territory and almost reaching western edge of Northwest Territories. Northern Canada: An area of residual smoke from wildfires burning in Alaska over the last week stretches from S Northwest Territories south into NE British Columbia, N sections of Alberta and into N/C Saskatchewan and NW Manitoba. The heaviest of the smoke stretches across a thin line over far northern Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. J Kibler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
