DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z August 14, 2014
SMOKE: Canada into North Central US: Moderately dense to dense smoke continues to be generated from numerous wildfires over central and northern British Columbia, northern Saskatchewan and Northwest Territories this afternoon/evening. The smoke was sweeping in a broad arc from central British Columbia across northern Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba and most of Northwest Territories abd then curling to the south over central and southern Manitoba into Minnesota and Wisconsin. Pacific Northwest and northern California: Remnant smoke from wildfires in California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho was mostly seen from northern California northward across central and western Oregon and Washington. Atlantic Coast: A small patch of thin smoke was detected off the Delmarva and New Jersey coasts. DUST: California/Nevada: A small area of blowing dust was observed in the vicinity of Death Valley in California and was moving to the east to the Nevada border. Another area of light to moderately dense dust was seen in northwest Nevada near Fallon and moving to the east. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
