DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1600Z August 22, 2014
SMOKE: Western/Central Canada/Washington State: Wildfires burning in central British Columbia are producing a large areas of light to moderately dense smoke stretching across parts of central/southern British Columbia, Vancouver Island and reaching far northwest tip of Washington State and into the Pacific. Another area of smoke can be seen across parts of northern Alberta, Saskatchewan and reaching north into central/eastern Northwest Territories and a small section of northwest Nunavut. Eastern Canada: A large area of smoke can be seen over parts of eastern Hudson Bay, far northeast Ontario and over a large section of northern/western Quebec. A narrow strip of moderately dense smoke stretches across the southern sections of the Hudson Bay south along the border of Ontario/Quebec before moving southeast over western Quebec. J Kibler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
