THROUGH 1730Z September 8, 2014
SMOKE Northwestern US: Several large fires in the Pacific Northwest (including wildfires in California, Oregon, and Idaho, but mainly the Happy Camp and July complexes in northern California) are producing a broad ribbon of smoke. The majority of the smoke, originating in northern California, stretches east across central Oregon, central Idaho, and central Montana before it curves south over South Dakota. The smoke also extends west out over the Pacific ocean. Moderately dense smoke remains confined to the vicinity of northern California and southern Oregon. Central California: A wildfire in Mariposa county in the central Sierra Nevada mountains remains active today. The extent of smoke cannot be determined due to cloud cover in the vicinity. Ramirez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS.
