DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Western US: A large area of remnant smoke from wildfires in the northwestern US and British Columbia blankets much of the north central US and southwestern Canada. The smoke extends from southeastern British Columbia, through southern Alberta across the border into Montana, Wyoming, the Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas. The full extent of the smoke could not be determined due to clouds on the eastern portion of the plume. Canada: A small area of remnant smoke from the British Columbia wildfires is extends from east-central Alberta into west-central Saskatchewan. -Salemi THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
