DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0300Z September 27, 2014
Central U.S: An area of very thin remnant smoke persists over much of the central U.S, extending from the Southern Plains northward across the Midwest and as far north as northern North Dakota and northern Minnesota. This smoke is from multiple fires that have occurred throughout the Mississippi Valley, the southern Plains states, as well as fires occurring in northern Minnesota and North Dakota. Saskatchewan/North Dakota: A ribbon of light density smoke is visible moving eastward across southern Saskatchewan and North Dakota. This smoke is most likely associated with fires that have occurred throughout the western U.S. and British Columbia over the past few days. Heeps THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
