DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1630Z October 31, 2014
SMOKE: Gulf of Mexico: An area of light density remnant smoke is visible moving SE from the Gulf coast of Texas and Louisiana. Due to the visual limitations of GOES-W, it is difficult to determine how far east this smoke is present in the morning, and GOES-E was utilized to supplement the analysis. This smoke originates from the agricultural fires that have been occurring throughout the southeastern U.S. this week. Oegerle THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
