DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Southern US/Gulf of Mexico: A large area of remnant smoke from earlier today persists from east-central Texas, east over the north-central Gulf of Mexico, through central Florida before curling northward off the east coast. This area has shifted south throughout the course of the day. Continued agricultural burns in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas are producing light to moderately dense smoke which is moving south and filling in behind yesterdays area of smoke. Earlier: Southern US/Gulf of Mexico: A large area of remnant smoke from yesterdays agricultural burns drapes from east-central Texas, east over the northern Gulf of Mexico, through central Florida before curling northward off the east coast. -Salemi THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
