DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1800Z March 06, 2015
Gulf of Mexico/Southeast US: A plume of thin remnant smoke continued to be seen across parts of the Gulf of Mexico, Florida, and off the Southeast US coast, although clouds stretching over this area associated with a frontal boundary were partially obscuring the region. Much of this smoke is believed to be from agricultural burning in Mexico, Central America, and Cuba over the last few days. Some smoke from US agricultural fires in Florida yesterday may also have contributed to the aerosol off the Southeast US. Sheffler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS.
