DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: US Southeast Multiple agricultural and prescribed burns were seen throughout the US southeast in GOES-13 imagery this afternoon/evening. Light smoke plumes associated with the fires were primarily moving to the southeast and were detected in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama and South Carolina. A large area of light remnant smoke from yesterday's and today's agricultural fires could be seen spanning from the northern coast of South Carolina to the central coast of Florida and continue to move east-northeast off the coast. -Cronin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
