DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Central US: Similar to yesterday, widespread seasonal fires were analyzed across the Central US, with the highest concentration centered across eastern Kansas. Many individual smoke plumes were visible in satellite imagery during the day. Some of the plumes combined into a larger area of thin density smoke which moved off to the north and northeast covering eastern Kansas, southeastern Nebraska, northwestern Missouri, and southwestern Iowa. JS Earlier This Morning... SMOKE: Central US: A plume of light density smoke was visible this morning in satellite imagery moving NE from Kansas and Nebraska extending into western Missouri and Iowa. This smoke originates from the large concentration of seasonal agricultural fires that took place in that region yesterday. Oegerle THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
