DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Gulf of Mexico: An area of light residual smoke from fires burning across Mexico/Yucatan is pushing north across the central and western sections of the Gulf of Mexico and reaching the Gulf Coast states. Cloud cover obscures the view of seeing how far north the smoke is reaching. Western Montana: Multiple fires burning west of Great Falls (Teton county) and east of the US northern Rockies (also east of Flathead National Forest) are producing light to moderately dense smoke moving northeast across north central Montana. J Kibler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
