DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Gulf of Mexico/Caribbean Sea: An area of light smoke from the seasonal agricultural burning in Mexico and Central America was seen over the central Gulf and the Yucatan extending to the western tip of Cuba. The smoke also extended further south into the Gulf of Honduras where the smoke was moderately dense. DUST Light elevated blowing dust from the Sahara was seen covering much of the Caribbean and was beginning to mix with remnant smoke in the western Caribbean and near western Cuba. Ruminski/Salemi THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
