DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Western Ohio River Valley extending SW to the Western Gulf of Mexico: A large area of light density smoke was extending from the Western Gulf of Mexico NNE into the Central Gulf Coast States. Smoke became obscured by cloud cover from approaching frontal boundary over the Central United States but smoke was believed to extend NNE into W portions of the Ohio River Valley. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
